Code Creatures is a synthetic 3D benchmark that provides us with yet another angle in any 3D video performance comparison. This is a high-end 3D benchmark that also requires DirectX 8 hardware, and along with 3DMark 2001SE, is a good barometer for potential DirectX 8 game performance.
The first chart shows the Total score produced by Code Creatures and it has the Radeon 9500 Atlantis Pro inching out a victory over the GeForce4 Ti 4600. As in many of our other benchmark scores, the battle is a tight one, and the performance levels between the two cards are virtually equivalent.
The next chart illustrates the detailed framerates that comprised the previous chart, and here we have an interesting scenario. The Radeon 9500 Atlantis Pro starts out ahead of the GeForce4 Ti 4600, but then falls slightly behind at 1600x1200. This is different than in some of our game benchmarks, where just the opposite occurred.
MadOnion's 3DMark 2001SE Pro is a popular 3D benchmark tool, and one that many gamers use to compare performance results. All benchmark testing was performed in 32-bit mode, and used pure hardware DirectX support.
The 3DMark 2001SE Pro benchmark scores offer up another slightly different view of the ATI vs. NVIDIA battle. In this case, the Radeon 9500 Atlantis Pro is more on par with the GeForce4 Ti 4400, while the Ti 4600 is well ahead.
