New Graphics Cards Support Open GL

ATI Technologies has announced an advanced real-time rendering solution for the computer aided design (CAD) market with support of RealView for SolidWorks 2004 mechanical design software. By utilizing ATI's FireGL workstation graphics accelerators optimized for the OpenGL Shading Language, SolidWorks users will experience rendering performance improvements up to 10 times faster compared to standard software rendering.

"Combining RealView with the realistic shader effects enabled by the OpenGL Shading Language greatly enhances the creative design process," said Brian Houle, Manager of the SolidWorks Partner Program. "SolidWorks users can expect marked improvements in productivity and innovation due to the hardware accelerated rendering capabilities of ATI's FireGL line of workstation graphics accelerators and its support of the OpenGL Shading Language."

"ATI has worked closely with SolidWorks Corporation to bring designers and engineers increased visual realism through real-time rendering," said Dinesh Sharma, Director of Workstation Products, ATI Technologies. "Having previously demonstrated real-time cinematic rendering for digital content creation markets, the natural progression for ATI and the graphics industry is to bring these benefits to the CAD community."
