ATI Delivers 3D Graphics for UNIX Platform
ATI Technologies has announced that the FireGL T2-128 and the FireGL X1-256p graphics accelerators will be the 3D graphics options available in the new HP Workstation c8000. Designed for users in automotive, aerospace and defense industries, the dual or quad CPU RISC based workstation, teamed with the FireGL workstation graphics accelerators, help provide an optimal operating environment for graphics intensive UNIX applications.
"The highly parallelized architecture of the FireGL workstation graphics is well suited for the dual CPU cores of HP's new workstation and is designed to deliver a more robust 3D graphics system to engineers and designers who run UNIX based applications," said Dinesh Sharma, director workstation products at ATI. "As it becomes increasingly important to reflect the unique needs of a specialized user base, ATI continues to develop advanced 3D graphics products for the UNIX market."
"ATI continues to build upon their strong lineup of workstation graphics available to customers on both the UNIX and Windows platform," said Jim Zafarana, vice president and worldwide marketing manager of the Workstation Global Business Unit for HP. "The new high-performance HP Workstation c8000 with FireGL graphics accelerators helps provide our RISC customers true 64-bit architecture with first-class graphics, resulting in stunning performance and increased productivity."
The FireGL X1-256p features 256MB of DDR memory, dual DVI-I output and a visual processing unit with eight parallel pixel processors and four geometry engines, and quad-buffered stereo. The FireGL T2-128 features 128MB of memory and dual display (VGA and DVI) complemented by 2 geometry engines and 4 parallel pixel processors.
