Sony's newest HDTV set is relatively small -- the XBrite-HiColor LCD, handsomely centered in a clear polycarbonate frame, measures 22 inches diagonally, with 1,680 by 1,050 resolution. On the other hand, the Vaio LT is also a fully equipped Media Center PC, albeit one that can be hung on a wall with a standard VESA mount (not included; an adjustable-tilt stand permits desk or table use). An Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 2GB of memory, Nvidia GeForce 8400M GT graphics; 802.11a/g/n wireless networking; a wireless keyboard, mouse, and remote control; and a 1.3-megapixel video-messaging camera with microphone are all standard.
A $1,900 configuration includes a 1.5GHz Core 2 Duo T5250 with 2MB of L2 cache; a 320GB hard disk; a DVD±RW drive; and Windows Vista Home Premium. The $2,900 deluxe model packs a 2.2GHz Core 2 Duo T7500 with 4MB cache; a 500GB hard disk; an ATI TV Wonder analog/digital tuner with CableCard support; Vista Ultimate; and a Blu-ray optical drive that can record up to 50GB on a disc as well as playing Blu-ray movies and supporting all DVD and CD formats. Both models have a separate power button so the TV can be turned on or off without waiting for Windows to boot or shut down.
