  • Welcome to Technology Extreme, the newest section of Sharky Extreme that focuses on coverage of existing and emerging consumer electronics products.

The focus of Technology Extreme is to provide our readers with information on the wide variety of consumer electronics products, by applying the same standards and processes that made Sharky Extreme a popular destination site for PC technology reviews.

Today we're continuing our monthly series dedicated to the hottest electronic products that money can buy, look for it towards the end of each calendar month. We're changing the format of the monthly guide slightly in this edition by moving our focus towards future hot products as well as items that are available for purchase today.

Sometimes the wait for new home electronics products is torturous. The year 2000 is filled with the promise of newer and better entertainment devices, but the cost is time. Most companies have to gauge whether to release a new product when it's actually ready, or to wait until the lucrative Christmas/holiday buying season each year.

It's tough to see that both software AND hardware introductions are delayed until the market dictates it's safe to introduce them, but it's still better than the alternative of no new products period!

This month we find several home entertainment devices on our list that aren't available yet, whether they'll appear before the winter of 2000 is subject to debate.

But they're "hella-cool" as South Park's Cartman would say, and you deserve to know what you're in store for.

    Let's begin.
