  • Each year in early January, the largest manufacturers of consumer electronics gear exhibit their upcoming products to industry professionals and members of the media.

Las Vegas, Nevada plays host to the massive show, which spans three full-sized convention centers and sees some 90,000 attendees walk through the elaborate booth displays over the course of four consecutive days.

Sharky Extreme representatives attended this year's 2000 CES show, and we're happy to say that the new products we experienced will bring much higher levels of entertainment fulfillment in the areas of audio, video, and portability than has been seen over the previous three to five years combined.

After getting back to the real world, we're left wondering how we've lived without the fantastic devices that will soon find their way to the world's retail stores.

"The Massive Las Vegas Convention Center Houses Just A Third of the CES Show's Booths"

In today's CES Wrap Up article, the first in a multi-part show coverage series that will conclude next week, we'll be looking at the new products that are going to be debuting this year from the two largest electronics manufacturers in the world, Sony and Panasonic.

Upcoming articles over the next week will cover our CES experiences with new products from Sanyo, Pioneer, Philips, Ericsson, Toshiba, Motorola, Samsung, Sharp, RCA, Hitachi, Casio, Nokia, Creative Labs, and others.

Join us now as we begin our coverage of the new devices you'll soon become dependent on for your audio/video/entertainment enjoyment.

Sony's primary challenge for the new millenium centers on bringing increasingly sophisticated technological devices into the homes of the average working family.

In fact, with the world's population gradually aging to the point where by the year 2020 the majority of people in most developed nations will be over the age of 50 for the first time in the Earth's history, the quest to make electronic products easier to understand and use is paramount in Sony's current planning.

Luckily, Sony's vast war chest of monetary funds and its impressive yearly gross income of tens of billions of dollars allows for a tremendous amount of research and development each year. The end result of all the R&D are products that are incredibly powerful, yet simple to manipulate.

For the 2000 CES show Sony introduced several brand new products along with newly updated incarnations of previously developed devices.
